New BRUCKMANN 65 Motorsailer

The great success of the Bruckmann 50 Motorsailer has led designer Mark Ellis and builder Mark Bruckmann to offer a larger version, the Bruckmann 65.  Added length brings enhanced performance and even more generous accommodation to this proven concept and makes the Bruckmann 65 an elegant statement of design and the builder’s craft.

The benefits of the hull shape that brought such acclaim from the yachting press, and owners of the 50, are continued in the Bruckmann 65.  With speeds in excess of 11 knots under power, she will outperform most trawlers, while providing a far more comfortable motion in a seaway.  Under sail, the ability to windward and excellent balance and stability, as in the 50, are hallmarks of the Bruckmann 65.  The swept double spreader rig and jib furler, along with the fully battened mainsail, reefed and furled in a Leisurefurl boom, make the Bruckmann 65 easily handled, with all sail controls managed from the cockpit.  The standard 250HP John Deere diesel engine, along with a large skeg-protected balanced rudder and substantial bow thruster, enable excellent maneuverability and control.  The Bruckmann 65 can be piloted from the cockpit as well as from the comfort of the salon pilothouse.  The large pilothouse windows allow excellent visibility from either steering station.  Movement from the cockpit to the pilothouse is effortless as both are on the same level.  The Bruckmann 65 is designed as an all weather cruiser able to keep her crew comfortable in extremes of both hot and cold climates.  In addition to this comfort, the copious volume of storage and tankage make this motorsailer ideal for extended or expedition style cruising.

Below, a large and airy fully equipped galley is to port opposite the comfortable library/office.  Inboard, the area near the galley is devoted to a washer/dryer and pantry storage.  The library features a large L-shaped settee for lounging or enjoying the entertainment system.  The settee is convertible to additional berthing, if needed.  Forward, the owner’s cabin features a queen size island berth and includes a large ensuite head with a stall shower.  Storage includes ample drawer and hanging locker space as well as under deck ‘aircraft’ lockers.  Two double guest/crew cabins are located port and starboard aft of the owner’s stateroom, one complete with an ensuite head.  Each cabin has plenty of storage and hanging locker space.  There is also a day head with a stall shower to serve the guest cabins.

As one would expect from Bruckmann Yachts, a yard acknowledged to be in the top rank of North American builders, the interior of the Bruckmann 65 shows meticulous joiner detail and finish.  Bruckmann Yachts will personalize each 65 to her owner’s tastes through a broad choice of interior layouts, hardware and finishes.  Bruckmann’s expert use of composite molding methods utilizes modified epoxy resins with vacuum bagged foam cored construction.  Carefully planned and executed mechanical and electrical systems ensure proper access and dependable performance.  From the custom stainless steel bowsprit to the transom door hardware, only the finest quality materials and equipment are used.

The Bruckmann 65 Motorsailer offers great comfort and ease to her crew, with reliability and performance under sail and power to please the most discriminating skipper.
